Pentatonix Plans to Perform 'The Masked Singer' Songs on Tour

During this week’s Semifinals episode of The Masked Singer Season 9, California Roll was unmasked as a cappella group Pentatonix. The group has teased that they’ll be taking some of the songs they performed in the costume on tour with them.

Pentatonix to Bring The Masked Singer Songs on Tour

After they were unmasked during Wednesday night’s episode, Pentatonix told host Nick Cannon that they saw the show as “a really fun opportunity to do something we’ve never done before.” As they continue their world tour, they’re not leaving The Masked Singer behind completely.

The group recently talked to Entertainment Weekly about their experience on the show and plans moving forward. When asked if they plan to perform any of their songs from The Masked Singer on tour, group member Scott Hoying responded, “Definitely.”

“We’ll definitely do ‘Creep’ on tour,” he added. “We may do ‘Paparazzi’ on tour, but if people come to our summer tour, they’ll get our California Roll experience as well as the Pentatonix experience. The California-tonix Experience.”

Hoying also shared that the group was “very flattered” by the panel’s guesses that they could be from the cast of a Broadway musical like Hamilton or Dear Evan Hansen.

The Group Has Released Their ‘Creep’ Cover

During the Quarterfinals, California Roll performed a haunting cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.” They delivered an encore performance of the song after being unmasked Wednesday night. Not only that, but they’ve since released an official version.

Their version of the song is backed by simple instrumentation, showcasing the group’s amazing voices and fantastic harmonies. Fans shared how much they loved the cover in the song’s YouTube comments.

“As soon as I heard this on The Masked Singer, I said to my sister, ‘I need to hear that last bit in a recording,'” wrote one commenter. “So happy you did this! Lovely arrangement.”

Another user called the rendition “perfect, powerful and BRUTAL.”
